“A GIRL HAS NO NAME” From These Beginnings

A Girl Has No Name takes its title from the character in Game of Thrones, whose journey of surrender, resilience, and transformation inspired the conceptual foundation of this work. The phrase represents the process of letting go of pain and past identities in order to embrace personal growth and self-reinvention.
The work originated as a self-portrait photograph, which was intentionally altered into a simplified, less detailed image. This reduction of visual information symbolizes the gradual release of emotional burdens carried from the artist's past. The photograph is further transformed through hand-sewn patches on printed canvas, with each stitch reflecting the ongoing process of healing and constructing a new sense of self.
By simplifying the image and reshaping it through textile techniques, the work rejects conventional ideas of beauty in favor of authenticity and self-acceptance. It reflects the artist's belief: "I no longer create to meet others' expectations of beauty. I create an identity that feels true to myself."
